Heading to the beach...

It will be nice to get away from reality a bit this weekend. Besides the ants and the water faucet that turns off and on by its own will, I've discovered another one of the joys of my room.

Yesterday we experienced torrential downpours -- I'm not exaggerating. It was so bad, I stayed longer at work because I didn't want to cross the street to go home. Anyway, once it let up a little, I headed back to my apartment only to find it flooded. I'm on the third floor and there's an awning above my door, but it rained so hard that the water seeped in through extra large gap under my door.

I guess I can consider it a blessing in disguise because my floor needed cleaned.

Anyway, I won't be writing for a few days because as I mentioned earlier, I'll be heading to Kampot Province to relax on the beach. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to post.

Oh, and wish me luck on the bus ride. Although the distance by American road conditions and travel standards should only take about one to two hours, my ride could last as long as five. The roads here are still tore up from the war (in fact I road on one last weekend that was just paved a year and a half ago) and the bus stops frequently. Hopefully, a hot shower (something I've been denied the past few weeks) at the guest house will compensate for my journey.

Beaches in Cambodia...sounds like a movie from the 80s starring Jonathan Silverman.
