Friday, July 28, 2006 (DAY 3)
Paris, France
12:00 midnight
Paris is GORGEOUS! And when I say that, I mean ‘C’est trés fantastique!’ After a full day of driving from London to the City of Lights and taking a ferry from the White Cliffs of Dover across the English Channel, we had a fabulous dinner of pastry, chicken (poulet), pasta and flan, then headed out for our Illuminations Tour of the city. I’m not going to lie, I nearly cried when I saw how beautiful everything is. The city was designed in such a way that everything is perfectly symmetrical and each and every building has magnificent architecture. And tonight we got to see it all: Notre Dame, the Louvre, the palaces, L’arc de Triomphe (woo hoo!)… and for the best sight of all, the Eiffle Tower! And not only did we get to see this famous landmark, but unlike the other sights which we comfortably viewed from our coach, we got to go up! Yay for surprises! Pete, our tour manager, made sure we all were able to hop the long lines and climb up to the top of the tower just in time to see the beautiful Parisian sunset.
And from the top you can see it all: Le Sacre Couer, La Rive Seine and even as far as Germany. And to cap off the evening I ran down every single step, from top to bottom. When I reached the ground the tower was lit up and looked breath-taking (despite my being out of breath from the jaunt down).
But overall, this city is magical. You truly will not believe your eyes when you see it! I can’t wait until tomorrow, to really dive into all that this city offers. I’m prepared to see some inspiring art, eat some delicious food and as we just found – be completely entertained by a show at the Moulin Rouge! Can’t wait! It’s going to be fabulous!
Bon soir!
